To our fellow Gardeners who love growing roses as much as we do,

We know this past winter was very severe with continuous frigid temperatures. Many of our roses and other plants were damaged or worse.

Don’t feel bad if your roses died back to ground level, it’s nothing you did wrong. Mother Nature is not always kind.

If your rose canes turned black, cut them down to where there are some leaf sprouts. Even if there are only a few sprouts from the very base of the plant, there is hope! Roses have a way of dying back to the ground and then making a burst of new fresh growth. Don’t give up on growing roses, we have to carry on!

At Ludemas, we don’t grow a massive amount of roses, but we do raise a nice selection of new varieties, hybrid teas, climbers, David Austin English Roses, and Bloomables from Star Roses.

We take great care in growing our roses to make sure they are healthy, strong, and beautiful. We especially seek out varieties that are fragrant. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about growing roses.
